PhD positions
The lab is currently recruiting:
One 6-year PhD assistant position. This role involves a combination of teaching and research responsibilities.
Teaching will primarily focus on organizing practicals for first and second-year bachelor courses in microbiology lab techniques and developmental biology.
The research component will center on "Molecular Ecology and Evolution of Frog Sex in Eurasia and the Caribbean," with fieldwork opportunities available in Europe, Asia, or the Caribbean, and will be conducted in the lab.
Candidates with a background in molecular biology and/or evolution are preferred, and fluency in Dutch for teaching is required.

We are always looking for talented and highly motivated PhD students to join the team. It is highly possible we have certain fundings to support you, so get in touch and express your interests.
Additionally, there is FWO PhD fellowship (deadline is about early March per year) from Belgian Flanders public research council to fully support the PhD salary for up to 4 years total and a certain fixed research funding per year.
We are also seeking PhD students through the CSC-VUB Scholarship Program, funded by the Chinese Scholarship Council. This program supports Chinese students pursuing a PhD at VUB. Candidates are selected by mid-December from the host lab at VUB, after which they apply for CSC funding in March in the following year, with results expected in April-May. Successful applicants will begin their PhD in September. The program boasts a success rate of 50-70%.
